Introduction to Movement Ecology
Movement Ecology is a framework that allows us to understand the many different strategies
that arise when we are faced with creating social change.
Movement Ecology is a framework to help us understand the many responses and foundational theories of change that shape our movements. Social movements are made up of diverse strategies, and each approach plays a role in the larger fight for justice, yet too often, movements become fragmented when different groups believe their way is the only way.
Movement Ecology helps us see the bigger picture: how different strategies can work together, how movements throughout history have succeeded through a balance (and sequencing) of approaches, and how we can be more intentional in our organizing today.
We invite you to watch, reflect, and share this with your community. Now more than ever, we need spaces to learn, discuss, and take action together.
A Place for those Awakened by Injustice
A place for those awakened by injustice
We invite you to commit to an education in movement building to develop both yourself and your organization
Our Vision of the Work is to:
Avoid
- Failure in our movements due to a lack of preparation, practice, and study.
- Getting absorbed or coopted into the status quo.
- Repeating past historical mistakes and acting from a constant state of reactivity.
Embrace
- Becoming a catalyst for creating healthy, strong, and resilient movements that effectively address people's needs. Acknowledge that your well-intentioned and high-quality efforts are achieving transformative changes once deemed impossible.
